The main function of a manufacturing process engineer is to direct the development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment. Work is performed in a centralized manufacturing engineering activity or assembly/plant activity where creativity and initiative are exercised as well as independent judgment.Key Responsibilities

  • Propose and evaluate manufacturing process and equipment for assigned areas.
  • Ensure Tooling and Equipment bulletin and Process Control Plan compliance.
  • Monitor warranty trends and support Quality initiatives to resolve.
  • Coordinate the effective use of resources in supporting SPQRC (Safety/People/Quality/Responsiveness/Cost) initiatives.
  • Evaluate expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
  • Provide technical assistance and training for assigned plant operations.
  • Works closely with production and maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Analyze tooling and equipment and select proper steps for solution.
  • Communicate with internal and external business units.
  • Support plants in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost goals.
  • Support and implement the QS9000/ISO14001/(GMS) Global Manufacturing System compliance processes.
  • Support chassis PFMEA activities, updates and report outs.
  • Support and initiate risk reduction projects and innovations.
  • Support Vehicle Systems with tooling and process integration.
  • Support maintenance Throughput Improvement Projects and Business Plan Deployment deliverables.
RequirementsQualificationsRequired Skills and Experiences:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Process Engineer or Manufacturing Engineer within the manufacturing sector.
  • Work Experience in one or more specific technical areas: Manufacturing Project Management/Execution.
  • Comprehensive expertise in manufacturing and assembly processes, as well as plant layout design.
  • Skilled in equipment/tooling alternatives, sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines and facilities necessary for the production of parts.
  • Fundamental understanding of tooling processes.
  • Familiarity with automotive industry operations.
  • Proficient knowledge of project management principles.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, or other email communication platforms.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with senior management to analyze and resolve issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively with others, demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills and Experiences:
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience in General Motors production facilities.
Education and Training:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent in a relevant technical field.
