Job Description

Our client in Calgary SE is seeking a Vet Assistant to join their team on a temporary basis. If you like animals and want to support the people who take care of them, this is an excellent full-time opportunity to help out. Working under the direction of the facility supervisor and veterinary staff, you will be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and refreshing animal enclosures and kennels.   • Clean, disinfect, and re-set dog and cat kennels and litterboxes, maintaining a high level of sanitization
  • Spread fresh litter and bedding materials like straw, paper, sawdust, or gravel
  • Coordinating cleaning activities with vet team to ensure kennels are available as needed
  • Clean floors and garage using brooms, mops, pressure washer, spray foamer, and motorized floor scrubber – training will be provided
  • Refill supplies such as food, litter, etc.
  • Wash dishes and laundry
  • Collect and take out trash
Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • Previous cleaning and/or animal shelter experience would be considered an asset
  • Must be able to lift, bend, squat, and stand throughout the day
  • Must be comfortable working in noisy environment, exposure to dog barking (hearing protection will be available)
  • Will be required to pick up animal feces, PPE will be available on site
  • Must be team oriented and also able to work well independently
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Great communication skills, spoken and written
