Job Duties:Read dockets, confirm the information and set up the slitting machine as per the specifications listed.
  • Load and shaft rolls; run rolls through the slitting machine.
  • Input all required information pertaining to the job into TORI.
  • Cut cores; prepare 6 cores and obtain material required for the next shift; order film and cores for upcoming orders.
  • Supply required samples of each product into docket for a future run.
  • Build skids safely in accordance with customer guidelines; strap skids when completed for removal from department.
  • Wrap, weigh and core plug all rolls; create skid tags and accurately label products and skids.
  • Place completed dockets in designated areas for the Production Scheduler.
  • Complete Slitter worksheet for First-off inspections.
  • Fill out NMR’s and Action request, as necessary, and assist in rework or repair activities as directed; write out work orders for maintenance.
  • Check-in TORI before closing a job to make sure all rolls are used.
  • Perform “Hammer testing” on cores of finished product checking “snugness” on orders 8” or less in length.
  • Confirm slit size with Extrusion and Slitting Manager prior to moving material to convert for the product that does not have a “slit” pass listed in TORI.
  • Other duties as required or requested by the Extrusion and Slitting Manager.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to lift over 50lbs on a frequent basis.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Good knowledge of math and units of measurement.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Can work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in the flexographic printing industry as a slitter would be an asset.
  • Safety conscious with the ability to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Hours of Work:7:00 AM - 7:00 PM & 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (every 2 week -Rotating Shift)
