Job Description

Department InformationThe Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) offers challenging and exciting careers in health and social services delivery and administration in Canada’s North. Challenging work, welcoming communities, and expanded opportunities are some of the benefits offered to employees of the NTHSSA.Job InformationThis is a succession planning position and will be an associate initially with a training plan.In this role you’ll be working closely and collaboratively with the NTHSSA Senior Management team to provide leadership and expertise in the oversight of the strategic and day to day operations in the Beaufort Delta Region to ensure services are provided in a manner consistent with the departmental cultural expectations of safety, quality, inquiry, and patient/client based.The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is accountable to the NTHSSA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for providing strategic direction and leadership in the execution of health and social services delivery in the Beaufort Delta Region. The COO is responsible and accountable for:

  • Leadership
  • Strategic Development and Implementation of Change
  • Relationships and Partnerships
  • Team Leadership and Staff Engagement
  • Quality Safety and Patient Care
  • Financial Accountability
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThe COO will have a proven ability to lead and manage at a senior level in an inter-disciplinary, changing, and diverse environment, including an ability to lead and manage off-site operations. The COO will have exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to deal with a wide array of people in a non-judgmental, age, gender, sexuality, and culturally-sensitive manner and the ability to build strong partnerships and strategic alliances based on mutual trust and respect.The COO will have a proven ability to lead organizational change and possess a strong vision driven by continuous quality improvement and results, while still remaining open and approachable, and they must be a skilled communicator who recognizes the political and traditional significance of the Indigenous governance.
