Job Description

Under the direction and guidance of the Director, Engineering, and the Director, Environment, Regulatory, & IMS, the IESP Construction Supervisor will be a contract position responsible for onsite project management of the IESP Early Site Works (ESW) construction in the winter of 2022-23. The IESP Construction Supervisor will review Principal Contractor performance of the ESW construction, ensure IESP health, safety, and environmental policies are being adhered to onsite, and manage other onsite services such as quality control.It is anticipated that the ESW construction will be conducted over a period of approximately 3 months. For out-of-region applicants, camp accommodations will be provided, and rotational work will be considered. For example, two candidates could work on a 2-week rotational basis.The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience, and knowledge:

  • Project management experience with a post-secondary education
  • 5+ years work experience, at a minimum, is required
  • Supervisory and management training or experience
  • Experience with on-the-job training and mentoring
  • Civil Earthwork Construction and Aggregate Quality Control experience
  • Experience with bridge construction desired
  • Training on required safety systems and emergency response plans will be provided. Demonstrated experience with safety systems and/or emergency response plans is desired
  • Permafrost experience
  • Experience with supervising Health, Safety, and Environment, including Incident Assessment and Root Cause Analysis
  • Familiar with NWT Safety Act and Regulations
  • Experience working within Indigenous communities and organizations
  • Previous work experience in the Beaufort-Mackenzie Delta or remote Arctic conditions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, networking skills, and organizational skills
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Reliable, willing, and able to work with minimum supervision
