Limited CompetitionThis job opening is limited to residents living within 25 kilometres of Inuvik, NT.Department InformationThe Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) offers challenging and exciting careers in health and social services delivery and administration in Canada’s North. The Territorial Authority has service locations in communities across the territory and a staff of more than 1,600 serving over 43,000 residents of the NWT and 5,900 residents of the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut. Challenging work, welcoming communities, and expanded opportunities are some of the benefits offered to employees of the NTHSSA.Job InformationScopeAll physician services in the NWT are managed by the NTHSSA, directly in its own regions and by formal Memorandums of Understanding with the T¿¿¿cho¿ Community Services Agency (TCSA) and Hay River Health and Social Services Agency (HRHSSA).Reporting administratively to the Regional Manager Primary Care, with functional direction from the Area Medical Director (AMD), the Physician Administrative Coordinator is responsible for providing direct support to the Area Medical Director, both administratively and to support the AMD in managing physicians in that region. The incumbent also provides support services to the local transient contracted and locum staff as well as for local medical learners.In addition to administrative duties, the incumbent coordinates physician contract services. This includes, but is not limited to, locum voucher payments, arranging travel, orienting new contracted and locum physicians, and working closely with the OMAC office. The incumbent is required to carry out his or her duties in a professional mannerThis position involves dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information that could impact clients and employees of the NTHSSA. The incumbent may be required to troubleshoot urgent travel issues for medical staff, locums and learners. This position is responsible for undertaking special tasks, projects and assignments, which are confidential and sensitive in nature.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThe incumbent must have strong organizational skills and experience providing a high level of service, to both the employer and the public. They must be efficient in a variety of word processing, data collection, and spreadsheet and information exchange software programs and have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with colleagues and the public.Advanced organizational, communication, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of office and administrative procedures are essential. The incumbent must have the ability to problem solve, work independently, exercise initiative and judgment and make responsible decisions within their scope of assigned authority. The incumbent must have knowledge of the interrelationships within the department, government as a whole, and with external organizations and issues. This includes being sensitive to geographical and cultural differences.
