Job Description

Matrix is hiring Structural-Ironworker Journeymans for an exciting project for our client in Norman Wells, NWT. There is a blended rate for the first 10 hours, $50.91, and OT for all hours worked past 10, $66.00. An incentive of 12% will be payable to active employees at two milestones throughout the project. The successful candidates will be responsible for fabricating structural steel buildings. Camp accommodations will be provided.The pay rate is $44/hr.Work Conditions:

  • Shift Rotation: 15/13.
  • Working 11.5 hours per day.
  • Camp accommodations provided.
  • Work will be primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.
Flights: Charter hub from Edmonton. Additional rotation allowances are available as per the below based on a primary residence.
  • Non-local residents of the Northwest Territories - $900.
  • Alberta residents - $250.
  • British Columbia, Saskatchewan & Manitoba - $750.
  • Ontario, Quebec & the Yukon - $850.
  • New Brunswick, Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island - $1100.
  • Newfoundland & Labrador - $1300.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Fabricates structural steel buildings, ornamental ironwork, and pre-cast structures on a variety of projects.
  • Studies blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of work.
  • Installs scaffolding, construction cranes, derricks, and other hoisting equipment.
  • Positions steel units, align holes, and insert temporary bolts while checking alignments and joining steel parts.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Journeyman Structural-Ironworker certification from a recognized provincial training authority.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an industrial construction setting.
  • Committed to working in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
  • Good analytical ability and manual dexterity.
  • Successful candidates are required to have a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must be willing to complete all required pre-access training identified at the time of hire.
