The successful candidate will work in a regional bureau with a small local team, and team members in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.An isolated location allowance and moving allowance, if applicable, are associated with this position.If you are an independently motivated community member who can see yourself developing a career in the public broadcaster, we have a career opportunity for you to grow with CBC North.Please include a link to your video demo, video/image portfolio and/or writing samples.We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • The ideal candidate will have a comfortable on-air presence and an ability to generate original story ideas with broadcast storytelling techniques.
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with video equipment
  • Strong writing skills. Knowledge of web writing, writing scripts for TV, radio or news would be a strong asset.
  • Great attitude and interpersonal communication skills to engage with community members to conduct on camera interviews.
  • Knowledge of working with video/camera equipment and editing software like Adobe or Avid would be an asset.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • You will be required to work a variety of shifts, which may include unexpected overtime situations, weekends and evenings, often independently and without supervision.
  • Knowledge of the Northwest Territories, Inuvik, and the Beaufort Delta region would be an asset.
  • Possessing skills in an Indigenous language would be an asset.
