NORTHERN WILDLIFE MONITORSJoin Nasittuq for a unique and rewarding experience!Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.We are looking for people who care about their work, are motivated, work collaboratively and thrive in a fast-paced environment. If you are someone who approaches work with passion and the courage to innovate, then this role is for you.Nasittuq seeks casual and seasonal Wildlife Monitors to support our NWS northern operations by providing safety to small teams of employees performing outdoor work in the Arctic. These positions are temporary assignments that assist in the north for our sealift operations as well as will provide seasonal/casual support for summer projects.Who you are:*Proficient at handling fire arms

  • Must possess a valid Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) and provide a copy upon application
  • Must be in good physical condition, ability to walk long distances and stand on feet for long periods of time while carrying equipment
  • Previous experience in a similar work setting in a remote northern environment (ie. hunter, guide, camp safety officer, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including Fall Arrest Harness, as required
  • Must be comfortable flying frequently in helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft
  • Must possess safety footwear that meet standards for workplace safety
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, and collaborate as a team member
  • Must provide a Criminal Records Check and must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Must possess Standard First Aid, or be willing to obtain certification
