Job Description

Payroll Administrator/AssistantPeak Renewables Kootenays is focused on building a portfolio of businesses that add value to the Kootenays community. We are passionate about providing quality jobs for members of the Kootenay region. Businesses include Peak Industries, a finger joint manufacturing plant in Cranbrook, BC, Galloway Lumber, a sawmill plant in Galloway, BC, Peak Woodlands, a logging services company and Peak Cranbrook Properties, a real estate development company.The position of Payroll Administrator/Assistant will be within our Peak Woodlands operation, working directly for Chasse Holdings Ltd in Invermere, BC. This position will be a permanent part-time position available immediately. The position offers fluctuating days depending on the tasks at hand between Monday and Friday.We are looking for an efficient payroll administrator to be responsible for all payroll, benefit, and apprenticeship processes. The payroll administrators duties include the management of employee data, ensuring the accuracy of timesheets, computing wages, and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:Responsibilities

  • Assist with the recruitment and hiring of new employees.
  • Providing information and answering employee questions about payroll and benefit related matters.
  • Managing electronic timekeeping systems/ manually collecting and reviewing timesheets.
  • Calculating payable hours, commissions, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions.
  • Preparing and issuing earnings statements.
  • Managing direct deposits.
  • Collecting and maintaining employee records.
  • Maintain absences and reporting of.
  • Maintain employee pension and benefits
  • Providing administrative assistance to the accounting department.
Required Skills
  • 2+ years experience in administration and payroll office.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software programs, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to prioritize and multitask.
  • Be self-motivated and driven.
  • Enjoy working as part of a closely knit team.
  • Comfortable asking questions to ensure understanding.
  • Team oriented
