Job Description

  • Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Manager of Extrusion Shift Leads (4) and Extrusion department operator team.
  • Accountable for all Safety, Quality, Delivery, People, Inventory, Cost (SQDPIC) KPI, daily follow-up to ensure execution and control of processes.
  • Leader of Extrusion Tier 2 and Ensure proper Tier 1 is taking place.
  • Owner of Extrusion boards and associated processes for maintenance, 6S housekeeping, communication etc.
  • Safety Leader for the department, lead by example and proactively address safety concerns with team. Conduct BOS safety audits and ensure team is conducting BOS, safety checks, follow-up on Red Tags safety work orders, Safety Consequence Thinking follow-up, HR Downloads, other safety training completion.
  • Ensure completion and follow-up of Stop Tag 5-Whys, drive to root cause and completion of corrective actions. Drive timely completion of stop tag rework.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Plan and drive quality improvement culture.
  • Conduct screening and hiring of new production operators to achieve target manning levels.
  • Conduct performance reviews, disciplinary action, informal coaching sessions, training review meetings with Shift Leads and Operators.
  • Responsible for managing the vacation coverage process for all team members.
  • Liaise with Maintenance, Engineering, Scheduling, Quality, Finance, HR, etc. to ensure mutual interests are taken care of.
  • Gatekeeper of standards for department, (run speeds, changeover times, usage, bleed, scrap, etc.)
  • Monitor daily, weekly, monthly etc. volume performance and take action to optimize output and flow.
  • Treat all team members with respect and set the tone for a positive culture in the department.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5-10 Years of People Leadership Required.
  • Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma Preferred.
  • Manufacturing Experience Preferred.
  • Engineering Degree Preferred.
