Are you ready to drive results for the best fleet in Eastern Ontario Tiger Trucking is growing and we’re looking for an experienced transportation professional to join one of Canada’s largest iconic retail brands as a Transportation Manager!Reporting to the Senior Transportation Manager, the Transportation Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations of the domestic transportation division of Tiger Trucking; meeting regulatory compliance requirements, managing store/customer experience expectations and driving cost-to-serve efficiencies.The successful candidate for Transportation Manager will have several years of progressive responsibility in transportation roles, and demonstrated abilities to coach and drive accountability in their teams.Giant Tiger Wholesale can offer a full-time permanent opportunity with medical/dental benefits, a performance bonus structure, a store discount, onsite gym access, and career growth opportunities. The Transportation Manager role is based out of our facility in Johnstown, ON.Transportation Manager Job Responsibilities:Improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness through continuous improvement, developing improved routing and reducing total transportation spend;Ensure financial targets are met and identify opportunities to drive cost-to-serve efficiencies;Oversee the routing of the fleet and work to optimize route efficiencies;Work closely with Giant Tiger stores to provide excellent service levels;Assist development of department strategies, objectives and performance standards/metrics; accountable to implement and deploy them in the network;Act as escalation point for day to day operational decisions;Participate in new drivers interviews and onboarding to match schedule and workload to new hires;Responsible for staff performance including the completion of development reviews, hiring, discipline and terminations as required;Communicate organizational strategy and translate it into functional goals for team;Frequent communication with key stakeholders on matters specific to scope of responsibilityTransportation Manager Job Requirements:5 – 7 years of progressive transportation experience; 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role;Postsecondary diploma/degree in related field; equivalent transportation experience may be considered;Demonstrated experience in managing and being accountable to a departmental budget;Demonstrated ability to mobilize, coach and drive accountability with specialist and individual contributors;Demonstrated ability to operate and leverage technology solutions such as Transportation Management Systems (TMS), MS suite, fleet telematics systems;Experience in retail distribution industry or related distribution industries and/or large scale national distributor/last mile or dedicated transportation operations an asset;Intermediate to Advanced skills in MS Office including Excel;Bilingual (English/French) is a very strong asset.Quick Apply
