Job Description

Location:Kahnawake, QCDuration:10 weeks (June 6-August 12, 2022)Responsible to:Team Leader of Primary PreventionDescription:The employee will assist facilitators with the delivery, implementation and coordination of summer program activities including field trips and outings by interacting with youth & parents. Assist in making public presentations on prevention programming, projects & activities. To participate & attend trainings, workshops as required for program.Responsibilities:

  • Learn about "Onkwanèn:ra" and Á:se Tahonatehiaróntie programs
  • Develop an understanding of what Prevention and Support Services offer to the community.
  • Attend Prevention & Support meetings.
  • Attend in house trainings (CPR, First AID, Seizures, etc.)
  • Attend Tewatohnhisaktha training
  • Develop culturally relevant activities with a focus on mental wellness that will engage group members on rainy days.
  • Help prepare and clean up facility for summer program.
  • The student will be required to help implement a promotional campaign - “KSCS Prevention Awareness Campaign” during this week. Topic to be determined. The summer student will do promotion in the community at various locations (ex. KMHC & Complex Lobby) as well as possibly go on the noon hour talk show on K103 Radio Station.
  • Write a report on their experience with the “KSCS Prevention Awareness Campaign” and recommendations
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:Skill development:The student will be required to develop a work plan and to manage their time to get their plan into action. Time management skills are an asset in continuing education studies and exercising these skills throughout the summer will help the student get back into the flow of school, by finishing assignments on time.Requirements:Education and Experience
  • College/CEGEP or University Student
  • Registered for KSSEP
Working conditions:
  • 35 hrs/week
  • Program hours are from 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday – Friday
  • Some evenings and flexible hours will be required to accommodate certain program outings and or activities
