Job Description

Subsidiary: Miller Paving LimitedMiller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on Area Maintenance Contracts for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation throughout the province of Ontario. Our leadership in the Ontario road and highway maintenance industry is based on our commitment to continuous improvement through education, innovation, safety, and training.As a Lead Hand, You Will:

  • Promote, lead, and execute a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants in compliance with Miller’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) polices and ensure contractual Health, Safety and Environmental obligations for the staff and public are met
  • Provide guidance to team members by leading safety meetings and inspections
  • Drive quality, efficiency, budget, and productivity of the operation
  • Understand the scope and sequencing of work, support patrollers to plan and prioritize work
  • Clean and maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs, as required
  • Oversee and participate in the following operations: Spring cleanup, Mowing ROW operations, Structure cleaning, Guide Rails Post & repairs, grading operations, Catch Basin cleaning etc.
  • Other tasks as required
Main Responsibilities
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Ability to be proactive and plan tasks accordingly
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to complete daily paperwork as assigned
  • Ability to complete tasks as assigned with respect to deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills & ability to email
  • Willingness to work assigned days, nights and weekend shifts as required
  • A Valid DZ license is considered an asset or willingness to obtain a DZ license
  • Adhere to Miller Maintenance Confidentiality requirements
