Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to assess, build, mentor, and foster individuals to form a strong and motivated team
  • Manages the Body Shop (Commercial Transport) Technicians and the Body Shop Administrator
  • Hiring, training, motivating, counseling and monitoring the performance of all body shop staff
  • Ensures that all customers are greeted promptly and given fair estimates on costs and time required for painting and repairs
  • Ensure the highest level of prompt communication with external/ICBC/internal customers
  • Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet or exceed them
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with ICBC/customers to encourage repeat and referral business
  • Monitors and controls the performance and profitability of the department
  • Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the body shop
  • Develops and implements a marketing plan which promotes new and repeat business
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, provincial land local regulations that affect body shop operations such as hazardous waste disposal, occupational healthamp; safety regulations, etc.
  • Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures
  • Maintains high-quality body shop repairs/painting and minimizes/eliminates comebacks. Conducts documented periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality
  • Create, establish and maintains a documented 24-hour follow-up with all customers to confirm satisfaction with the body shop service experience and share results with team members.
  • Informs body shop technicians of time allowances on each repair order
  • Ensures the safety of all employees by enforcing safety requirements
Qualifications
  • Valid Class 5 AND 1 OR 3 Driver’s License
  • Must have 5 or more years’ experience as a body man
  • Minimum 3 years management experience is an asset
  • Paint training through Dupont is an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Time management, strong organizational skills, detailed-oriented, accountability and dependability
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Strong business ethics with a professional approach at all times
  • 5+ years experience in a heavy truck body shop environment
