About the role In this senior role, you will be a vital part of our metallurgy team. You will be overseeing essential processes such as fluxing, fusion, and cupellation, which are fundamental to our mineral extraction and analysis procedures. You will take a leadership role in managing projects, including bid preparation, client interactions, metallurgical balances, data communication, and result analysis. This position plays a key role in maintaining the highest quality standards of analytical quality and safety within our metallurgical operations.Manage projects, including; bid preparation and bid review at all level and direct client interaction and communicationCommunicate data to clients, through e-mails or written reports, or by leading project review meetings and presentations with clientsAnalyze data and take lead in determining direction of the testing program based upon the resultsUpon completion of the test program, analyze and present the data in a format suitable for using in the project final reportWrite final technical reports for projects under management and projects managed by others if needed using standardized formatsConducting, supervising and reporting bench scale and pilot plant test work for complex metallurgy projectsDirect, supervise, and, when necessary, conduct test work in laboratoryCollaborate with senior project members and the Technical Services Manager regarding ongoing test programsProviding a mentoring role for other technical staffDirect Junior and Project Metallurgists, and delegate work effectivelyParticipate in safety audits with the site safety officer as requiredRepresent ALS Metallurgy at trade shows, conferences, mining shows, etc. as required; these events may occur outside regular office hoursUse correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical qualityObserve established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedAbout you:Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilityAdvanced communication and technical report writing skillsAbility to work to deadlinesOrganized and detail-oriented individualHighly motivated, strong sense of responsibility and excellent work ethicAble to work independently or as part of a teamGood interpersonal skillsProven troubleshooting and technical support skillsAbility to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issuesExcellent English communication skills (written and verbal)Required Qualifications:Demonstrated Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical or Mineral Processing degree (or equivalent) required5 to 8 years of laboratory and operations experience in process plants and testwork servicesP.Eng. requiredAbility to lead a team of metallurgistsPhysical Demands:Ability to lift filled 20 litre containers (45 lb)Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasksAbility to stand for a full shiftAbility to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilitiesPlease note that ALS operates week days; although attendance at trade shows or conferences may require weekend dutiesWorking at ALSOur people are our most valuable asset and drive our success at ALS.We are a diverse community of dedicated professionals united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
