Job Description

Job PurposeThe Activity Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of recreational programs and activities for clients in the Day Program, engaging clients to participate in purposeful activities and provide one-on-one support when required.Job Qualifications· College diploma or university degree in Health Promotion, Activity Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Gerontology or related field.· Must be organized, enthusiastic and team oriented;· GPA/U-First and Dementiability Certification preferred;· Knowledge or experience working with persons living with dementia, care partners and families.· Must be organized, enthusiastic and team oriented;· Excellent proven communication and interpersonal skills;· Bilingual (English & French) oral and written required;Responsibilities: · Build and create recreational programs using music, dance, crafts, reminiscing, social recreation, games, etc. Activities will keep persons living with dementia actively engaged in activities.· Assess individual client interests and abilities and adapts the recreation program. Develop individual client activation plans incorporating special activities and/or providing alternate activities which are appropriate to the functional level of the client.· Motivate clients to participate in appropriate scheduled activities.· Work as a team member to address the needs of clients and to ensure that recreation is well balanced.· Manage behaviours and complications associated with Dementia.· Maintain program statistics and submit monthly.· Work in a team atmosphere, participate in program quality assurance, and meet with the team on a weekly basis.Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to provide a clear police vulnerable sector check. .
  • Must have standard CPR and First Aid.
  • Must possess a valid Driving License
