Job Description

Full time part time position: $20-25/hour based on experience

  • Provide leadership and training to all housekeeping staff
  • Complete, assist and oversee daily housekeeping tasks
  • Act as a liaison between housekeepers, kitchen staff and upper management, ensuring clear communication is maintained between all departments
  • Assisting, monitoring, and maintaining the Sentinel standards
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels on all linens, towels, cleaning supplies, products and tools
  • Reorder supplies, as needed, with consideration of budget, efficacy, and product ingredients/local sourcing, when possible
  • Preparation of work schedule for housekeeping team, ensuring adequate staffing is provided based on needs and staff availability
  • Understanding and preparing daily work task lists for team members, providing clear instruction and ensuring required tasks are adequately delegated and sufficient staffing is provided
*Availability: 30- 40 hrs/ week, some weekend availability requiredExperience: 1-2 years housekeeping or house cleaning, preferredWage: Varies based on experience, $20-25.00/hour, with potential for growth**Complete all regular housekeeping tasksAbility to complete all housekeeping responsibilities efficiently and independently, with a keen eye for detailsTasks include:Room Flips, Lodge cleaning, Maloca cleaning and practitioners office, topping up tea stations, laundry wash and fold, retreat prep, bath houses, karma kitchen deep cleaning ( 2-4x/ year), restock and refilling of all soaps, toilet paper, paper towel, cleaning products etc, additional deep cleaning tasks as and when needed.**Prepare housekeeping schedulesEnsure adequate staffing is provided to meet the demands and needs of The Sentinel. This includes:
  • Day to day staffing (minimum one housekeeper per day)
  • Staffing for retreat set ups, retreat flips, and multiple guest check outs. (min 3 staff for retreat flips, 2 staff for flips of more than 2 rooms)
  • Additional staffing for laundry days and busy days, as needed
  • Balancing the workload at the Sentinel with the availability of the staff
  • Monitoring time off requests, helping with shift coverage and connecting with team members when last minute help is required.
Shift Task lists
  • Reviewing Retreat Guru regularly to understand the upcoming guests, retreats, check ins/outs and be able to provide staff with daily task lists
  • Planning and understanding when certain areas need to be cleaned, the frequency generally required and how that may change based on use/user.
**Housekeeping inventory and ordering
  • Monitoring cleaning supplies, linens and towels and ensuring they are restocked and reordered before they run out. Consulting the Housekeeping Cleaning Supply Inventory and Ordering List for purchase locations.
Payroll
  • Ensuring all staff have updated and entered their hours for the 15 day pay period.
  • Preparing and submitting all pay totals, as generated by When I Work, to Janet, by the 1st and 16th of the month.
  • Tallying and splitting tips between relevant team members
**Hiring and Training
  • Accepting and reviewing resumes for potential new hires, assisting with interviewing
  • Scheduling and providing time to work one on one training new staff to met The Sentinels housekeeping standards
  • Providing new staff with all available housekeeping training manuals, folding techniques, cleaning lists etc
  • Ensuring new staff are supported and welcomed on to the team gracefully and with appreciation
