Job Description

Job DescriptionAs an Electrical Utility Distribution Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team in beautiful Kelowna, BC and will be involved in a range of projects and tasks related to telecommunication and electrical utility distribution infrastructure. They may also support emerging projects in other areas such as telecommunications, industrial electrical, substations, and renewable energy. Primary responsibilities

  • Help perform design tasks for projects such as pole line analysis (PLA) for telecommunication and electric utility poles
  • Support the development of design and construction standards for various distribution and transmission applications
  • Assist in the preparation of calculations, drawings, construction and work packages and other project base deliverables
  • Assist in the preparation of technical inputs for reports, specifications, proposals, project schedules and cost estimates
  • Communicate with client stakeholders for various aspects of the project, including regular communication about project progress
  • Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing assets condition and prepare site survey reports
  • Help ensure design work conforms to all applicable national codes and client standards
  • Utilize client based geographic information systems (GIS) and other records for data collection during the design process; produce bill of material and enter material acquisition requests in the GIS
  • Coordinate with utility companies, all levels of government agencies, municipalities, and other companies and institutions
  • Perform and assist with additional duties and tasks based on project requirements and other job functions as assigned
