Job Description

Our client, GreenTree Community Inclusion Programs, is a progressive organization dedicated to offering person-centered care and creative solutions for individuals with diverseabilities. Their goal is to empower individuals by providing barrier-free support services, enabling them to flourish both within their environments and in the broader community. As an organization experiencing rapid growth, GreenTree is excited to onboard a Payroll Specialist to their growing team. Reporting to a fractional CFO, you will oversee and process bi-weekly payroll for 75 employees, encompassing both salaried and hourly staff. Your role will involve preparing detailed monthly and annual payroll reports, maintaining and updating the payroll system and database, as well as supporting benefits administration, including employee time off and leaves. Additionally, you will perform periodic bookkeeping tasks, ensuring seamless operation across financial functions.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to join a dynamic, expanding organization and benefit from the guidance of a highly experienced leadership team.   • Manage and process bi-weekly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees;
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and overtime;
  • Process government remittances and payroll related reporting, including CRA, WCB, EHT etc.;
  • Update and maintain payroll system (Payworks) and database;
  • Administer and support the employee benefits program;
  • Track employee time off requests, including vacations and sick leaves;
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks as assigned;
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs);
  • Provide data and support for reconciliations and financial reporting;
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll and employee information;
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in payroll administration;
  • Implement best practices to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy;
  • Complete custom reporting for program evaluations;
  • Additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years’ of progressive payroll experience;
  • Previous recent and extensive experience working with Quickbooks Online or Payworks is required;
  • Certified Payroll Practitioner designation from the Canadian Payroll Association would be considered a strong asset;
  • Experience and knowledge of required payroll reporting (CRA, WorkSafe BC, etc.) and benefits administration;
  • Strong computer literacy, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience working with Google Workspace would be considered a strong asset;
  • Experience working with a government-funded agency such as CLBC or MCFD would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality and integrity;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical thinking;
  • The ability to thrive in a team-based environment, although you are self-motivated and able to function autonomously;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style.
Hours of work will be dependent upon the availability of the successful candidate. This may be an ideal opportunity for someone who needs some flexibility in their life balance and wants to start with 25 or 30 hours a week and work towards full time in the future.As a company that supports a strong life balance, this role is a hybrid opportunity with a minimum of 20 hours a week being in office. The salary for this position is anticipated to be $37-$42/hour and will be determined based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, the successful candidate will be eligible to participate in the company benefits program.
