Job Description

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is currently seeking an Inspector for the North Region Compliance Team based in the Kenora area.What can I expect to do in this roleIn this role, the Inspector will use their thorough knowledge of the Registrars Standards for Gaming, Lottery and Cannabis along with the Liquor Licence and Control Act, Gaming Control Act, Horse Racing Licence Act and other related legislation and regulations to plan and undertake compliance activities at licensed/registered premises including special occasion permit functions, break-open ticket vendors, commercial/charitable gaming sites, cannabis retail stores, racetracks, horse training centres, bingo halls and registered lottery retailers.The Inspector will interpret and apply the Registrars Standards and regulatory law; assess public interest issues relative to compliance findings; complaints/violations; participate in and conduct reviews of incidents; undertake corrective action; maintain effective liaisons and working partnerships with police services; provide guidance and advice to licensees, registrants, applicants and the public.How do I qualifyThe ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in/and substantial knowledge of risk based, outcomes focused law/regulatory enforcement and information gathering techniques;
  • Direct experience conducting inspections and/or other compliance activities and providing excellent service to the public;
  • Excellent report writing and organizational skills with the ability to successfully meet frequent deadlines;
  • A proven ability to build relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders;
  • The ability to make sound decisions when faced with difficult/confrontational situations;
  • Demonstrated ability to give evidence at hearings and court proceedings;
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Experience using word processing applications and MS Office software;
  • A willingness to travel and work variable hours (including nights, weekends and statutory holidays);
  • A valid drivers licence with an acceptable driving record.
