Job Description

Position SummaryThe Youth Support Worker is responsible for providing programming to youth in care between the ages of 13-21, which is designed to facilitate their successful integration within the community. The programming will consist of planning, coordinating, and delivering services geared to address the individual physical, emotional, social, cultural, and intellectual needs of youth.Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Be familiar with and provide services in compliance with relevant legislation, ministry regulations and standards, and agency policies and procedures.
  • Complete documentation in accordance with proscribed agency, ministry, and legal standards
  • Demonstrated skills in counseling and training.
  • Thorough knowledge of community resources available.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communications skills; particularly with adolescents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficient in computer software applications including MS Office, and database programs.
Qualifications:
  • An awareness of First Nations issues, including knowledge of the communities, family structure, customs and traditions, is an asset.
  • Diploma in Social Work or related field.
  • Two to three years experience working with adolescents and families.
  • Applicants with similar academic qualifications and related experience may be considered.
Required:
  • Must possess a valid Class G Ontario Drivers Licence and have access to a reliable vehicle with OPCF6A Insurance endorsement and a minimum of $1000 000.00 Liability
  • Clear criminal reference check, Clear Vulnerable Sector check, Clear Internal Records Check, and a Clear Driver’s Abstract.
