Job Description

Project ManagerThis role will give you the chance to work for and contribute to the success of an innovative new Indigenous professional services organization with an incredibly supportive management team who is dedicated to your success, professional development and the advancement of our clients strategic initiatives.What your day will look like (Responsibilities)

  • Contribution and leadership in the implementation of SOAR’s strategic growth plan and operational business plans
  • Leadership in the development and execution of a business development strategy with a primary focus on developing client relationships and new business opportunities related to projects for Indigenous Nation clients
  • Leadership of proposals and submissions in response to requests for proposals
Management of environmental assessment, regulatory permitting, and consultation and engagement projects
  • Leadership and technical direction of multidisciplinary project teams
  • Regular interaction with Indigenous clients, government agencies, and other project stakeholders
  • Input to the career development of other staff including providing technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring
  • Contributions to SOAR’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
  • Travel to other business locations and SOAR or Dillon offices for the purposes of project delivery, client relationship development, and opportunity/project research
  • Manage health and safety onsite for field projects, coordinate field programs, prepare project contracts/agreements, complete sub-contractor oversight and organize/manage field teams
Qualifications (What you will need to succeed)
  • A degree in environmental planning, environmental science, environmental engineering, or another relevant discipline
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Professional Planner, Register Professional Biologist (Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) considered an asset
  • Experience in environmental impact assessment and permitting under Provincial, Federal, or Territorial regulatory frameworks
  • 7 to 10 years’ experience, including consulting and/or environmental related fields
  • A strong interest in Indigenous economic development, renewable energy, environmental assessment and permitting, and community consultation and engagement
  • Ability to work independently (self-driven) and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Strong communication, report writing, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Drivers license
Experience (What value you bring)Strong background in project management, environmental impact assessment, environmental regulatory permitting, and consultation and engagement programs
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated capabilities in multidisciplinary teamwork as well as the ability to work independently
  • Strong working knowledge of the Project Management software and Microsoft Suite of products.
  • Experience and interest in Indigenous culture, provincial, territorial, and federal environmental assessment and regulatory permitting processes and renewable energy projects (e.g., wind, solar, powerlines)
  • Demonstrated abilities in multi-disciplinary teamwork, detail-oriented tasks, and technical report writing
  • Indigneous cultural knowledge (including generational) and/or Indigenous language proficiency is considered an asset
  • A commitment to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Contribution to SOAR’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
