Job Description

Painter : Calgary Rim Repair (straight time)Job Summary: The role is responsible for all stages of wheel/rim paint process. Starting with assessing repairs, repairing damaged areas, sanding, masking, filling, finishing, polishing and clean up. The incumbent works in conjunction with painter.The position reports to the Team Lead.Duties:

  • Assist Team Lead / CSR with morning production duties.
  • Provide updates on WIP rims and coordinates priority of repairs.
  • Wash and clean rims for color matching.
  • Take photos of rims before prep begins and take photos of rims after prep is complete.
  • Inform Team Lead / CSR if any issues that may cause delays.
  • Assess rim condition and confirm if required to be put into strip tank.
  • Inform Team Lead and CSR if rim needs to be put into strip tank.
  • Record date / time of when wheels were put into strip tank and record date / time of when wheels were taken out of strip tank.
  • Assist the wheel repair technician with weld detail (cleaning / grinding welds).
  • Media blast wheels once stripping is complete (if required).
  • Prep wheels for paint (sanding, masking, filling, polishing).
  • Prep wheels for powder coating.
  • Operate the powder coating booth, powder coating machine and powder coating oven safely (ensure the booth and oven are turned off correctly after each use).
  • Keep prep area and racks tidy / organized (prep area, strip tank area, wash area).
  • Keep powder booth and media blaster area clean.
  • Routinely clean and/or replace the filters to the powder booth.
  • Assist tire technician with dismantling and reassembling wheels and tires (when applicable).
  • Assist the team with maintaining the general cleanliness of the shop.
  • Assist the team with delivering wheels to internal / external customers.
Qualifications:
  • Secondary Education or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • One year (1) experience in tires and prepping.
  • Can lift at least 80 lbs regularly.
  • Above average communication skills.
  • Detail Oriented and highly organized.
