GIS (Geographic Information Systems)- Student POSITION SUMMARYWorking under the direction of the Senior Manager, Capital Projects and Engineering, the Student Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician’s role is responsible for maintaining, editing and creating digital data for the Town of Kingsville. Creation and modification of special purpose maps of geographic data. Provide geographic information to various departments within the Town of Kingsville to assist in regular work flows and projects. RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Creation, maintenance, editing, and acquisition of municipal data for all Departments within the Town of Kingsville.
2. Maintenance and implementation of Municipal GIS databases and applications.
3. Creation of standard and special-purpose maps, plans, sketches and reports of various geographic data as requested by all Departments within the Town of Kingsville.
4. Prepare maps or documents for meetings and committees.
5. Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Capital Projects and Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Equivalent to University Graduation in Computer Science with additional specialized courses up to One Academic Year, 4 year equivalence in College and would need an additional year at university for schooling.
2. Specialized courses for ESRI ArcGIS, Geocortex Essential, and CityWorks
3. Advanced Certificate in GIS.
4. Knowledge using software packages including ESRI ArcGIS, Geocortex Essentials, Cityworks, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Office.
5. General understanding of all other departments within the Town of Kingsville to be able to fulfill various requests and maintain data for these departments.
6. Attention to detail required in creation of maps and in editing of spatial features within the database.
7. Database editing requires concentration in performing edits correctly

WORKING CONDITIONSWork is in an office environment on a 40 hour week.
