Job Description

Customer Service Attendant/Dockhand SeasonalLa Ronge, SKFull Time / SeasonalJob PurposeSnowbird Aviation Services is Saskatchewan #39;s largest full-service aviation ground support company. The Customer Service Attendant (CSA)/ Dockhand Seasonal is responsible for delivering superior customer service. This may include, but is not limited to, passenger check in, cargo acceptance and handling, ground handling and fuelling

  • Primary ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
    • Ensure consistent and superior customer service through awareness of customer needs, and trends.
    • Maintain a positive attitude towards customers and colleagues within a fast-paced work environment.
    Check-ins
    • Conduct passenger check-ins for all charter and scheduled flights at the related terminal or base.
    • Process and/or track all baggage and freight requirements.
    Cargo
    • Accept and handle cargo in accordance with approved standards, policies and procedures.
    • Process dangerous goods shipments.
    Ground Services
    • Handle baggage and cargo and load/unload aircraft.
    • Assist flight crews and customers requiring assistance to enplane/deplane or handle baggage.
    • Safely and efficiently operate and maintain ground support vehicles and equipment.
    • Marshall and tow aircraft.
    • Receive float aircraft on docks and secure them.
    • De-ice/anti-ice aircraft.
    • Groom/detail aircraft interiors/exteriors as required.
    Fuelling System
    • Accept fuel deliveries and perform fuel quality checks.
    • Deliver fuel into plane, fuel drums, etc, and to customers.
    • Ensure paperwork for tracking fuel delivery and supply is completed appropriately and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    General Responsibilities

    • Ensure optimal communication with all employees and internal partners.
    • Carry out duties in accordance with health, safety and environment legislation and regulations.

    QualificationsEducation and Experience
    • Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience or training in aviation is considered an asset.
    Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
    • Demonstrated experience in serving a diverse and complex customer base.
    • Professional judgment and well-defined conflict resolution skills in handling sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and high ethical standards.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Sound problem solving, decision-making, analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
    • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to organizational requirements.
    • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects and tasks and execute effectively and in a timely manner.
    • Strong leadership skills and a hands-on, self-motivated, and demonstrated positive, can-do attitude.
    • Excellent time management skills with the ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Provincial driver #39;s license and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).
    • WHIMS and Dangerous Goods Awareness Training.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of basic computer applications.
    • Willing to work shifts as needed.
    Working Conditions
    • The CSA/Dockhand will work shifts as assigned on days, evenings, and weekends. 50 per cent of the work is performed outdoors, including inclement summer and fall weather.
    • This position is physically demanding. The CSA/Dockhand must be able to safely undertake physically demanding tasks.
    • Able to accept call outs as required. Occasional overtime, on call shifts and/or travel may be required.
    Equipment to be used
    • Ground Power unit, lavatory cart
    • Tractor tug and related ground handling equipment
    • Forklift, de-icing equipment, aircraft fuelling equipment
    • Radio base unit
    • Standard office and telecommunications equipment
    Typical Physical and Cognitive Demands
    • Ability to handle customer luggage and freight.
    • Ability to lift 70 pounds.
    • Able to safely provide various ground services related to aircraft and equipment.
    • Able to work in enclosed spaces and on elevated work platforms.
    • Must be able to organize and meet demanding schedules and work assignments
    • Ability to quickly adapt to constantly changing situations and work environment.
