Job Description

OPEN COMPETITION1 – Permanent Full-TimeFamily Enhancement Support WorkerLac La Ronge Indian Band Woodland Wellness Centre is now inviting applications for one (1) Permanent Full-Time Family Enhancement Support Worker based out of La Ronge to provide services to the LLRIB outlying communities. These positions will report to the Prevention and Recovery Manager. As a member of Woodland Wellness Centre,the Family Enhancement Support Workers are integral members of the multidisciplinary team providing case management and client care.Duties:

  • Complete an initial assessment of families needs so that you can identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating
  • Undertake regular caseload review meetings with individuals and families during home and community visits to ensure theyre fully supported to progress and achieve desired outcomes
  • Facilitate family and community connections, by working alongside families in meeting case planning objectives and maintaining regularly scheduled visits
  • Provide transportation of families to scheduled group counselling, cultural and land based activities
  • Provide and mentor a nurturing and structured environment with positive attachment caregiving
  • Be a role model and source of guidance for children and families by demonstrating healthy boundaries;
  • Supporting children and families towards the goal of strengthening the family unit
  • Work as an effective and cooperative team member; Providing appropriate communication between program coordinator, mental health therapists, wellness workers, traditional therapist(s) and families where necessary
Qualifications:
  • Certificate in Indian Social Work (CISW) or Mental Health and Wellness Certificate
  • 2 years’ experience in the family support services field
  • Knowledge of parenting strategies, child development and/or attachment
  • Knowledge of woodlands Cree culture, tradition, well-being and healing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to travel to outlying LLRIB communities;
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license;
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset;
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is an asset;
  • Ability to work flexible hours based on the needs of children and families
  • Security Clearance: Current Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver’s Abstract required upon hire.
