Job Description

Job SummaryReporting to the Employee Transition Manager this position is responsible for providing support to the manager on executing the transition plan for the Whiteshell Closure Project. The main focus of the role is to provide targeted one-on-one support to employees. This will be accomplished through connecting participants with education, skills training, and work-based training and placement opportunities. The Employee Transition Coordinator will ensure to document all communications and follow-up with participants, partners and providers as required. The coordinator will be responsible to develop a talent inventory, as well as individual employee profiles. The incumbent of the position will be knowledgeable of all the tools available to the employees and will make recommendations to improve or perfect those tools.The coordinator will be responsible to discuss, sit in on meetings, track, record, and report on the progress to plan and ensure that statistical data are accurate and current.This position requires to be onsite (Pinawa, Manitoba) 80% to 100% of the time. The incumbent of the position will need to be willing to travel from time to time within the province and to our home office in Ontario on occasion.QualificationsEducation

  • Completion of a postsecondary degree in a relevant discipline such as Human Resources, Business Administration or Psychology.
  • Career Coaching/Counseling Certificate, an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Experience
  • 3 + years of experience delivering programs in a career development and dealing with harder to employ clients facing multiple barriers to employment.
  • Experience with recruitment strategies, an asset
  • Documented experience with employment training and counselling both for groups and individual plans; an asset
  • Evidence of understanding current practices in vocational education, local labour market trends and employment opportunities in both private and public sectors; an asset
  • A combination of education and work experience
Abilities and SkillsThe incumbent must have:

Functions and ResponsibilitiesFunctions and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Transition Plan Steering Committee
  • Member of the Transition Plan Steering Committee;
  • Participate and contribute to meetings, doing research or making recommendations as needed;
  • Takes meeting minutes;
  • Comes prepared with metrics and applicable reports.
  • Transition Plan
  • Support the manager and Human Resources in executing the workforce reduction plan;
  • Provide a case management approach on and individual employee basis and be a consitant resource for transitioning employees
  • Track metrics to be published and presented to all level of stakeholders
  • Provide various reports and statistical data
  • Coordinate with identified transition/outplacement contractors and vendors to schedule workshops and outplacement services
  • Track all costs related to budget including training costs, and vendor P.O.’s
  • Transition Plan Counseler
  • Provide effective employment and career counseling
  • Interview employees to obtain employment history, educational background, career goals, etc
  • Identify and action potential shawdowing, redeployment opportunities within the organization and with contractors
  • Identify barriers to employment and guide employees to develop job readiness skills;
  • Assess needs for additional assistance such as financial aid and/or further vocational training and make appropriate referrals;
  • Leverage the transferable skills and experience to develop a meaningful transition plan for each individual
  • Maintain an empolyment resource (i.e. Career Hub)
  • Coordinate events such as networking events and job fairs
  • Participate in the communication of end dates
  • Assist the Human Resource team with the processing of paperwork related to the transition plan (ex; severance package, etc.)
  • Conduct exit interviews, as needed;
Communication & Community Relations
  • Collaborate with the communication team to post and send out communications as scheduled and needed
  • Make cold calls to potential employers providing awareness of WL transition program;
  • Build relationship with all level of stakeholders including the surrounding community;
  • Develop and update the content of the transition web page

  • Labour Relations
  • Organize or plan any Labour Relations discussions as needed
  • Workforce Planning & Talent Management
  • Liaise with the Talent Team to promote and discuss opportunities within other missions across CNL
  • Identify and forecast present and future opportunities across CNL and pair employee skillsets to the opportunity
  • Forecast alongside Human Resources recruitment and company needs
  • Liaise with the Talent Team to promote and discuss opportunities within other parts of CNL (i.e. other projects and missions across CNL)

Other Related Responsibilities:
  • Support and assist the Human Resources team as needed;
  • Help with the administration of linking the transition plan to the HR Strategy to support business objectives
  • Participate as needed in the recruitment initiatives; including and not exhaustive of full cycle recruiting and selection
  • Identifying and reporting any real or potential safety hazards; wearing all safety equipment related to your position as well as participating in all safety-training offered through the facility;
  • Adheres to Workplace Safety and health procedures, WHIMIS program; keeping current with practices; working in a prudent and safe manner and informing other employees if they are using unsafe work practices or equipment
  • Performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety and regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (i.e. utilizing personal protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifies management or supervisor of all occurrences, injuries, illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co-workers or any other on the premises in a timely manner and in accordance with established reporting requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
