Job Description

Retail Store ManagerDepartment: Retail Reports to: Senior Retail Manageramp; BuyerStatus: Full time, Year-round positionGeneral Description:The Store Manager (SM) of Moraine Lake Lodge (MLL) is a year-round position with its office and lodging located in Field, BC during the summer months. Travel to Vancouver, BC is required during the winter months for training and inventory management. The SM is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trading Post Store (MLT), prioritizing inventory management and providing direction to the retail team to ensure continuous improvement of guest service, merchandise presentation, and sales and operational cost management. The SM must be a collaborative problem solver, able to delegate responsibilities, establish priorities and deliver an amazing guest experience. Strong managerial and training skills, and a proven ability to motivate a team are critical elements for success in this role. The Store Manager must have a strong working relationship with the Senior Retail Manager/Buyer, Assistant Buyers, GM of MLL and Ownership.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:General Operations and Guest Services “Show”

  • Monitor and ensure communication of daily and weekly store information and sales goals to retail team,
  • Analyze sales and product reports to ensure sales budgets are achieved, identifying and communicating with a sense of urgency areas of opportunity to the Senior Retail Manager/Buyer,
  • Ensure staffing levels are monitored to optimize sales generation, inventory replenishment, and guest service expectations,
  • Regularly coach the retail team on product knowledge, selling techniques, and inventory management,
  • Meet with Senior Retail Manager/Buyer on a weekly basis and review team productivity, to achieve desired results and balance guest service with merchandise standards (store cleanliness and replenishment, etc.),
  • Create and post team schedules in a timely manner, ensuring maximum sales floor coverage,
  • Develop team through one-on-one coaching, and deliver team incentive plans as per Senior Retail Manager/Buyer,
  • Achieve all store financial, revenue and expense targets,
  • Communicate, implement and ensure compliance of all company policies, programs, standards and merchandise presentation,
  • Lead efforts to protect company assets through Loss Prevention education, polices and awareness,
  • Train team members on proper cash register and cash handling procedures and policies,
  • Be knowledgeable about Capilano Group: Moraine Lake Lodge (MLL), Cathedral Mountain Lodge (CML), Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (CSBP), Stanley Park Pavilion (PAV), Stanley’s Baramp; Grill (Stanley’s) and Prospect Pointamp; Trading Co. (PPC).
  • Execute any reasonable business directives from the senior management team.
Merchandise Management
  • Create best practices with Senior Retail Manager/Buyer and train team on all receiving and processing procedures,
  • Train, coach and review inventory systems and warehouse organization with the Retail Inventory team member for optimal merchandise management,
  • Ensure replenishment practices are established, coached and maintained for guest satisfaction and sales goals,
  • Ensure merchandise receiving is performed correctly and that purchasing is entering into retail systems correctly,
  • Lead implementation of merchandise and visual standards as established by Senior Retail Manager/Buyer,
  • Work with Senior Retail Manager/Buyer ensure guest feedback on current product and requests for other products are communicated regularly and timely by team,
  • Work with the Accounting Department to ensure proper accurate completion of paperwork,
  • Ensure all MSD and return forms are being filled out correctly and accurately,
  • Accurately record damages, identify areas to minimize write offs,
  • Review negative inventory reports, identify any problem areas and work with Senior Retail Manager/Buyer to resolve.
Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of progressive retail supervisory and work experience,
  • 1-2 years inventory management,
  • You have proven success in motivating and coaching your team,
  • Experience analyzing financial reports (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly results statements),
  • Strong operational skills in a fast-paced guest-service environment,
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization,
  • Knowledge of retail procedures, inventory management, sales techniques, shippingamp; receiving procedures,
  • Experience with a retail POS system,
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook),
  • Projects a professional demeanor and reinforces brand and company standards.
  • Outdoor enthusiast, a passion for hiking and exploring the Rocky Mountains,
Working Conditions:
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business,
  • While performing the duties of this position, team members are required to be on their feet for extended periods of time,
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50lbs, and,
  • Occasionally required to lift and climb a step ladder or step stool.
