Job DescriptionResponsible for daily monitoring, audits to ensure Lakefield site is in full compliance regarding all Environmental and Hazardous materials management regulations.Working with the Storage- Materials Management Team to ensure Work Instructions are efficiently and safely followed to completion when handling hazardous materials and wastes. Responsible for the documentation is current for the compliance to site ‘MOE- Environmental Compliance Approval†(ECA) for air/noise and water permits is completed expeditiously.Completes complex Environmental Compliance sampling and testing (sound surveys etc.) for a variety of site related projects as required by the Ministry of the Environment or the company environmental consultant.Site liaison with SGS Environmental Consultant for Air, Water, Noise.•Completes Clarification Pond sampling, monitoring and daily reporting if required.•Works with the MET Environmental Project manager to ensure the site effluent meets the environmental guidelines and Sewer-use Bylaws for Selwyn Township.•Completes Environmental Compliance sampling and testing for a variety of site related projects as required by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) or the company environmental consultant to ensure the “Environmental Compliance Approval†(ECA) for air, noise and water are current and complete.•Works with all operating groups to ensure the day-to-day movement of Hazardous Waste is completed without incident.•Develops and writes draft Environmental SOPs for the Site Environmental Manual for air, noise and hazardous wastes by gathering and updating existing SOPs•Develops “SOP’s†and “Work Instructions†relating to handling of Hazardous Waste Materials at the Lakefield Site.•Develops and reviews annually “Field Level Risk Assessments†for Waste Management.•Works in association with the Materials Management –Sample Storage Supervisor and Storage Project Manager on the disposal of hazardous waste (test samples and reject portions)•Where required will sort, print off inventories and work with Live Sample Manager/database•Some off-site travel for projects and extended hours on/off-site may be required from time-to-time.•May be assigned to assist with special or ad hoc projects, periodically.
