In Canada, SGS employs over 2,000 team members across 70 locations.Job DescriptionThe Induction furnace Technical Specialist is responsible for set up, maintenance and operating the Induction furnace. This position is also responsible for receiving electronic waste from clients, dismantling electronic waste into appropriate waste streams, the identification and testing of components/items for reuse and producing end product and analysis.

  • Set up and operate the induction furnace and associated equipment.
  • Controls furnace atmospheres as required
  • Responsible for maintenance and repair of furnace and associated equipment
  • Performs all phases of induction furnace operation.
  • Responsible for processing of recycled materials
  • Maintains adequate supply of operating supplies.
  • The Induction furnace Technical Specialist is responsible for recording and collating data to support the evaluation of the programme.
  • The Induction furnace Technician is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with clients, partner agencies, customers and the community as a whole
  • Dismantling electronic waste according to systems and processes
  • Assist management in the preparation of documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensuring all documentation paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties and maintains a clean work area.
  • Observes and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Small scale induction melt of e-waste, metals, and custom feed materials.
  • Follows current approved methods, SOP’s, Work Instructions (WI’s) and QA/QC protocols.
  • Makes necessary decisions related to their levels of skill and knowledge.
  • May be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • A post-secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science) or equivalent experience is required.
  • Requires 3 -5 years’ experience in heat treat techniques
