Consider joining our arboriculture team and being part of an accountable, united, determined, and genuine workplace.Position OverviewHorizon Tree Care Division provides skilled arboriculture work involving pruning, planting, and removal of trees for municipal, residential, and commercial clients. This is a full-time crew lead position, working a minimum of 40 per week, and will be responsible for running a crew between 2-4 people.Example of work may include:

• Climbing trees as well as operating an aerial lift truck for the purpose of pruning or removing trees.
• Planting at large scale commercial sites.
• Provide on the job training for apprentices.
• Completing documentation required during daily operations.

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability

• Knowledge of tree identification, growth habits and maintenance requirements of various tree species.
• Knowledge of basic principles of integrated pest management and plant health care.
• Skill in the operation and servicing of equipment used in arboriculture work.
• Ability to identify pest and disease that may adversely affect trees.
• Ability to prune, plant, and remove trees without supervision.
• Ability to climb trees using a rope and harness.
• Ability to operate an aerial lift truck.
• Ability to drive large commercial vehicle with trailers and perform pre-trip inspections.
• Ability to perform hazardous climbing and pruning tasks at considerable heights.
• Ability to perform physical labour and work outside in inclement weather conditions.
• Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instruction with minimal supervision.
• Ability to assign, check and review the work of apprentices.
• Ability to keep records related to work performed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the team, clients, and the public.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours a day while lifting up-to 80 lbs.
• 3+ years of industry experience

Qualifications

• Class 1, 3 or Class 5
  • airbrake endorsement an asset
• Certified Utility Arborist or Utility Arborist Apprentice are an asset
• ISA Certified Arborist is an asset
• TRAQ Certification is an asset
• Pesticide Applicator Certification is an asset

Requirements

• Steel-toed boots
• Class 5 driver’s and reliable transportation

• Salary: $40+
