Job Description

Position OverviewZenterra is an award-winning construction developer that has several exciting projects in the pipeline extending well into the future. To support our continued growth, we have an opening for a Carpenter with a good understanding of general framing practices to join our Townhomes construction team. The team relies on the incumbent to construct, erect, install, maintain, and repair structures and components of structures made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. You will be part of a growing team consisting of Assistant Site Superintendents, Site Superintendents, Construction Coordinators and Construction Labourers.Challenges

  • Irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and occasional overtime
  • Physically demanding, work involves lifting heavy materials and working with sharp tools
  • Multiple deadlines (several projects across multiple sites)
Key Accountabilities and Supporting Tasks
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub-flooring and install walls and roofing systems
  • Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures
  • Fit and install trim, doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
  • Prepare cost estimates as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
QualificationsMust-have:
  • Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program or minimum of 4 years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in carpentry
  • Knowledge of WorkSafe requirements as it pertains to Carpentry
Nice-to-have:
  • Previous supervisory experience managing trades and subcontractors
  • Knowledge in MS Office, including SharePoint
  • Experience with Smartphones, productivity apps and computers
