Job Description

At Merit Kitchens, the Designer – Sales Representative is the first point of contact for retail and commercial clients, both in person and virtually and is responsible for generating revenue through sales as a brand ambassador. You will be required to consult with clients to identify their project scope of work and create functional designs using Merit cabinetry. You will also be responsible for developing detailed plans, renderings, quotes, and contract paperwork for design projects.Designer and Sales Representative:

  • Set and achieve personal weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Prospect and engage with new potential clients focusing on homeowners and builders.
  • Connect by phone, email, or video call to potential leads and find opportunities to quote on jobs.
  • Responsible for helping walk-ins in showroom and qualifying.
  • Consult with clients to determine needs/scope of work, style, finishes, layout.
  • Create thoughtful, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs.
  • Develop detailed plans and 3-D renderings using computer-assisted design 20/20 software.
  • Determining client #39;s budget and directing them appropriately.
  • Estimate cost, materials, and services as required.
  • Client presentations for Design and Quote Reviews.
  • Prepare detailed plans and specifications for the final designs in accordance with current practices and codes.
  • Attend meetings with potential clients and referral partners.
  • Attend project site visits for measures and installations.
  • Track existing client information and interaction in CRM database and follow through to complete the sales cycle.
  • Track and report: sales, quotes, and leads on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, discussing and reviewing these with your team lead.
  • Coordinate and work with other Sales/Design professionals and provide support when required.
  • Adopt excellent communication methods and effective sales approaches/methodologies.
  • Build a strong network by attending industry events, trade shows, and conferences to stay up to date with current and upcoming trends, market conditions, etc.
  • Attend Product Knowledge sessions with suppliers and reps held at showroom.
  • Ensure showroom is in clean, stocked, and in operational condition. May need to assist in updating displays if required.
  • Comply with company policiesamp; procedures.
  • Resolve design/project related issues by clarifying the customer’s complaint; determine the cause of the problem; select and explain the best solutions to solve the problem; expedite corrections or adjustments; follow up to ensure resolution.
  • Promote Merit Kitchens core values, mission, and vision at every opportunity in this role.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2+ years of experience of sales and business development experience in a related industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with 20/20 design software or a software that is similar.
  • Knowledge of NKBA standards is considered an asset.
  • Proven understanding of product knowledge, the industry, and area of service.
  • Strong knowledge of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
  • A collaborative team player that can work well around people and honor our customer first vision.
  • Quick learner with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Well organized problem solver with sharp detail-oriented abilities.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including weekends (must be available to work Saturdays).
  • Have your own vehicle with a valid driver’s license (car allowance is provided).
