Job Description

Take your Construction Career to the next level with us!Horizon Contracting Group is looking to add a full time Supervisor to our rapidly growing field team in our Lower Mainland Earthworks Division! Please note, most of our work is towards VancouverThe successful candidate will join our Earthworks Division working primarily doing excavations, grading, site buildup, land clearing and more!:

  • Complete jobs using a variety of tools and equipment safely
  • Power Tools
  • Cut-off Saws
  • Mobile/heavy Equipment – Excavator, Skid Steer experience a must
  • Determine and Setting Grades
  • Participate in training events
  • Participate in safety training and meetings
  • Act as a leader on site
  • Assist the division manager with the logistics of the site and job as a whole
  • Man Power
  • Work flow
  • Troubleshooting
  • Deliveries
  • Coach and train employees under direct supervision
  • Use progressive discipline as required
  • Enter time for all employees under direct supervision for payroll processing
Experience
  • 5000+ hours of skid steer and excavator operation - dozer experience an asset!
  • Experience in Civil Construction-excavations, land clearing, pipelaying, grading etc.
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Technically literate using iPad and/or iPhone and various applications on those devices
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with people in a variety of circumstances and from various backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a thorough, organized and detail-oriented approach to work
  • High level of customer service
  • Ability to foster a cooperative working environment
  • Ability read technical reports, construction documents and technical knowledge of industry components and their function an asset
Physical Requirements
  • Apply physical dexterity with frequent bending, stretching, reaching, grabbing, holding and carrying
  • Hear and speak in order to communicate with others
  • Frequently lifting 30-60lbs, as required
  • Standing, sitting and walking for the majority of the day, sometimes on uneven surfaces or on stairs

  • The compensation range for this position is $85,000-100,000 annually. Wages are set based on experience and qualifications
  • 3 weeks of annual paid vacation time and 1 week of annual paid personal leave is provided for this position. Employee is also eligible for benefits after their probation period.
  • Employee will benefit from Extended Healthcare options, RRSP Matching up to $3000, above average allotment of vacation days and personal days, Profit Sharing, cell phone package, and various training initiatives.
