Type of Employment: Full-Time permanent (40 hours/week)Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Under the direction of the General Farm Manager, the general farm worker is required to:· feed and tend livestock (alpacas, cattle) and poultry, including cleaning barns and pens;· assist with animal husbandry duties in conjunction with other farm staff;· assist in the maintenance of facilities and farm infrastructure, including field/pasture maintenance (check fences/gates, sprinkler set-up/rotation, noxious weed removal, pasture mowing, etc.), as directed;· assist with hay loading, snow removal and other ‘seasonal’ tasks, as required;· follow Occupational Health and Safety policies (initial training provided);· other general tasks, as directed.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · basic farm knowledge (usually obtained from working on a family farm or similar work situation) - employer willing to train;· ability to work safely and effectively with livestock (alpacas & cattle);· equipment operation including utility vehicle, Avant loader (training provided), and other small farm equipment;· familiar with occupational health and safety policies/procedures (training provided);· ability to understand and follow information and instructions presented;· good interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with others;· personal initiative and demonstrated willingness to learn new tasks.Additional Information: · Monday through Friday but willing to negotiate a flexible work schedule. Occassional weekend work may be required during special events (i.e. alpaca shearing);· A minimum level of physical fitness is required (i.e. ability to lift feed bags, hay bales, etc.);· Driver’s License (Class 5) required;· Salary dependent upon experience and job performance.Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $16.00-$19.00 per hourBenefits:
