Annually, we provide services to over 2500 individuals and families.The OpportunityWe are currently looking for self-directed, engaging, empathetic Full Time Overnight Support Worker to join our growing team. Reporting to the Senior Support Worker, the Overnight Support Worker monitors and attends to the well-being and safety of all persons residing in specialized home support services during the night. Maintains a supportive, non-judgmental, inclusive, comfortable, clean and safe living environment. The program, located in Langley, is a 24-hour emergency receiving home for youth between the ages of 12 to 19 who are in need of short-term stabilization.Overnight Support Workers work with some of the most vulnerable and complex youth in the care of, or on a Youth Agreement with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in meeting youth where they’re at, recognition of the ongoing influence of trauma and disconnection on the youth served and building on youth’s strengths and passions to create meaning. Delivery of these services must be provided with an understanding of the ongoing effects of trauma, isolation and vulnerability.JOB POSTING # 2022-0100 OSWDATE: May 26, 2022POSITION: Permanent - Full -Time (Non-bargaining unit position)HOURS OF WORK: 4 ON 4 OFF Rotating ScheduleNights 10:30 PM–7:30 AMSALARY RANGE: Grid 10, Step 2 - $22.68BENEFITS: Extended Health, Dental, RRSPVACATION: as per ESS policyANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAPCLOSING: Open until filledKey Responsibilities1. Monitors program participants and attends to any personal health needs that arise during the night.2. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures including proper notifications and follow up procedures.3. Performs housekeeping duties in support of health and safety regulations. This may include but is not limited to vacuuming, dusting, emptying garbage, sanitizing, cleaning and laundry. Reports maintenance needs to the supervisor.4. Supports and advocates for program participants to meet their personal needs and goals by providing supportive advice and access to resources.5. Maintains professional boundaries with program participants.6. Prepares and supports program participants in healthy living practices such as daily hygiene, and breakfast preparation.7. Monitors program participant’s medications in accordance with established policy and training.8. Ensures that logbooks and other documentation such as charts and incident reports are legible and completed in a timely manner.9. Secures the building by arming alarms, locking doors and windows.10. Reviews any external Youth Justice Act conditions with participants and reports appropriate breaches of conditions to authorities as required.11. Training and ExperienceSix (6) months recent related experience.Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experienceCurrent First Aid3. Skills and AbilitiesEffective verbal and written communication skills.Effective problem-solving, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skillsAbility to be flexible, resourceful and possess good time management skills.Ability to function as an independent self-starter with limited “on-site” supervision4.
