Maintains, updates and verifies accuracy of records for inventory purposes. Prepares merchandise to be returned to suppliers or delivered to customers. Handles all shipping/receiving related queries with suppliers, freight companies and internal and external customers. Responsible for internal trucking and equipment coordination.Responsibilities:Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for supervising and delegating all internal trucking requirements in line with Shop/Yard/Project needsExamine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipmentPrepare documents, such as bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materialsDetermine shipping method for materials and contact carrier representatives to issue instructions, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and ratesEnsure all shipments conform to, or exceed, current related legislation, including environmental and safety legislationRecord shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposesInput and maintain purchasing related data in GroundWorks including part numbers, equipment numbers, pricing etc.Unpack and examine incoming shipments, accept or reject product according to established procedures, records shortagesConfer and correspond with establishment representatives to expedite, trace and/or rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and non-conformance to specificationsDevelop, maintain and update an inventory control system to properly track yard and shop itemsPeriodically review inventory to determine stock items and levels of high moving inventoryMaintain stockroom to ensure safety, organization and efficiencyRequisition and store shipping materials and suppliesEnter all shop and field packing slips into current system on a daily/weekly basisUse various equipment to perform tasks including computer terminal, bar coder, printer, photocopier, fax machine and calculatorPerform other related duties as assignedQualifications:Education and ExperienceSecondary school DiplomaClass 5 Drivers LicenseMinimum 1-3 years shipping/receiving or inventory control experience, preferably in the construction industryData entry experience (very comfortable with Excel, Word, etc)Forklift certification.Knowledge, Skills and Ability RequirementsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral/written)Highly organized with ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environmentStrong customer service and interpersonal skillsCritical thinker with ability to problem solveAnalytical, detail-oriented, flexible, team playerGood time management and organizational skillsPhysical DemandsPerform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materialsAble to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects (up to 70lbs)Work in adverse weather conditions (snow, cold, heat)
