Requires daily contact with students, faculty, staff, outside Trades people and Suppliers.TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Performs work orders that do not require certification;
  • Cut keys and performs door hardware maintenance;
  • Cleans and organizes mechanical, electrical rooms, store rooms, workshops;
  • Wipes clean and /or paints equipment, mechanical / electrical room floors;
  • Performs clean-ups and removal of debris upon the completion of work projects;
  • Replaces fluorescent tubes and incandescent lights;
  • Receives and delivers stock associated with building services, may require off campus pickups;
  • Assists in snow removal by shoveling, sanding and salting, operating a snow blower or snow plow and a tractor;
  • Assists in cleaning of boilers, chillers and cooling towers;
  • Assists in exterior and grounds clean-ups;
  • Operates maintenance and grounds equipment including a tractor mower, and power tools;
  • Operates a fork lift;
  • Performs annual preventative maintenance on exhaust fans, motors and bearings including changing belts, lubrication and filter changes;
  • Assists in isolation and drain down of hot water heating lines and replacement or repair of heating systems;
  • Maintains safe working conditions, wears appropriate safety equipment, and performs safety-conscious methods of installation;
  • Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity.
QualificationsGrade 12 education plus associated courses relevant to a building maintenance setting and two years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be familiar with hand tools and electrical tools and be in good physical condition including able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must hold a valid forklift operator certificate. Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems and HVAC. A B.C. class 5 motor vehicle license essential. Required to wear a uniform.
