Job Description

Location: Leaf Rapids Education CentreStart Date: As soon as possibleFTE: 1.00 FTETerm of Employment: PermanentApplication Deadline: Open Until FilledThe Division provides a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, transportation and moving expense reimbursement, subsidized housing or housing allowance and isolation allowance in qualifying communities, annual travel reimbursement, reimbursement for approved courses and more! In addition, the Division is offering a $5,000 incentive payment to all successful eligible applicants.Leaf Rapids Education Centre is a modern well-equipped Nursery to Grade 12 school located 230 km from Thompson. Leaf Rapids features an abundance of hiking trails and fishing spots. The community services are in a central building fostering a great community spirit. The Town Centre houses the school, medical centre, theatre, gymnasium and shopping.Reporting to the Principal, the Social Worker works collaboratively with school personnel, parents and other clinical disciplines to provide a comprehensive range of psychological services within the school community, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation and prevention.Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work
  • Eligible for certification as a Social Worker in Manitoba
  • Previous experience working in crisis and intervention situations with youth and families
  • Excellent leadership and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Training and/or experience in addictions counseling would be an asset.
  • Previous successful school experience is an asset.Experience working with the First Nations community and using culturally affirming approaches is also an asset.Applicants are required to submit the following:
