Job Description

Nucor Vulcraft Canada is seeking a qualified structural engineer to oversee projects and meet budget, timeline, and quality goals. The structural engineer will analyze project goals, design structural elements, make safety recommendations, and maintain a project database. We #39;re looking for a detail-oriented problem-solver with a strong knowledge of building code. Nucor Vulcraft Canada is committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects built with the most excellent standard of safety in mind - and it all starts with exceptional analysis and design.Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Coach and mentor a team of engineers and detailers
  • Take care of our customers and service their requirements.
  • Review contract documents such as structural and architectural drawings and project specifications, extracting all pertinent information necessary to ensure that the design of Vulcraft open-web steel joists and steel deck products meet or exceed the requirements of the project, applicable building codes, specifications and safety standards in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Technically support the detailing team, shop order team, and production team.
  • Effectively Communicate and coordinate job requirements externally with customers, architects, engineers, contractors and internally with various departments of the plant.
  • Assist project managers and sales personnel; provide salesamp; service coordination for engineering, fabrication, and delivery.
  • Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Design
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Structural Design
  • A good understanding of the National Building Code of Canada.
  • Superior language skills, both written and oral. Good interpersonal skills.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain (preferred)
  • CWB Welding Engineer certification or ability to obtain. (preferred)
  • Engineering experience in structural steel (preferred)
