Invites applications for the position ofMechanical Maintenance Technician (temporary - 3 months)Start Date: July 2022St. Thomas Aquinas Roman (STAR) Catholic Schools is a regional separate school division in Central Alberta, operating schools in Lacombe, Ponoka, Wetaskiwin, Drayton Valley, Beaumont, and Leduc.Reporting to the Custodial Coordinator/Mechanical Maintenance supervisor, the Mechanical Maintenance Technician assists with maintaining, modifying, repairing, aligning, and adjusting, of electrical and electronic equipment including the heating and hydronic system, for the Division. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician must be able to troubleshoot, solve problems and repair tools and equipment under tight timelines; and to provide electrical expertise as required.Specifics of the role includes:Inspects and repairs equipment (portable and fixed) which is useable; or to improve performance, availability or safety.Develops, performs and maintains a scheduled preventive maintenance schedule and log.Installs, maintains and repairs electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures; plumbing including the replacement of taps, toilets, sinks, and hot water tanks.Ensures any work performed by them is in accordance with relevant codes and legislation.Performs light carpentry or finishing duties including the installation of white boards and bulletin boards, drywall repairs, paint touch ups, and minor construction and cement work.Maintains and trouble shoots heating systems; HVAC and hydronics including the replacement of zone valves, and other valves on heating systems, and pneumatic system controls and equipment.Source and coordinate repairs by contractors as necessary, in accordance with Division procedures and legislation.The successful candidate will have experience in the mechanical/maintenance field. A 5th Class Power Engineer and/or a trade ticket is considered an asset.The wage range for this position is between $28.16 – $32.37 per hour for a 40 hour week.Start Date of July 2022 on a mutually agreed upon date.The position requires that the individual be able to work overtime and be on call for afterhours emergencies, from time to time, and a clean driver’s abstract to operate Division vehicles.
