Job Description

Job SummaryThis position will assist in all functions of Quality Control in a machine shop environment.Duties:

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production group leader.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; identifying re-work and/or scrap; reconfirming re-work completed.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and/or scrap; inputting data into quality forms.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs and/or calibration as required.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations and participating in general housekeeping and related programs.
  • Shows a visible commitment to safety policies and actively participates in updating policies and procedures to achieve the safest possible working environment.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Ensures correct recording of production by utilizing time clock, completing time cards and monitoring internal standards of material and labor for each order; advises and assists PGLs and administrators in updating set standards when required.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Ensures that all company standards, including quality and health & safety, are in compliance as well as associated checks and inspections are completed as required during day to day activities.
  • Actively participates in the implementation and ongoing review of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Actively participates in the initiation of actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to the products, process and the quality management system - continuous improvement!
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1-2 year of experience working in a machine shop
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in inspecting API threads, Taper threads, ACME, STUB ACME, Modified taper ACME threads
  • MRP Gauge set-up
  • Familiar with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, OD mic. depth mic. ID mic. etc.
  • Advanced measuring techniques
  • Generate accurate dimensional inspection reports
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Verify that parts meet drawing and process requirements
  • Perform first off inspection at the machine and final inspections of the completed batch
  • CMM Calypso Zeiss operation and programming experience is an asset
  • Able to calibrate instruments or basic knowledge
