Job Description

Leduc Truck Service is a family owned and operated trucking company that has been in service for over 80 years. We are looking for a Safety Consultant to take over our already established program on a contractual basis. We estimate that it will take 20-30 hours the first month for you to review our program and 10-15 hours per month thereafter. Time commitment would temporarily increase when external audits such as COR and OH&S occur.This position would be ideal for someone semi-retired/retired or someone who needs a flexible schedule. Safety Consulting companies are welcome to contact us. Remuneration to be negotiated. Experience required.Duties include:

  • Verifying that H&S procedures are in use, functional and efficient.
  • Assisting in the Investigation of accidents or incidents to discover root causes
  • Keeping records or incidents and accidents, compiling, analyzing and producing annual statistics for various required government reports.
  • Acting as liaison with governing bodies related to H&S ensuring compliant with mandatory regulations.
  • Carrying out monthly site inspections with various staff members
  • Completing audits, reviewing findings and working toward implementing changes.
  • Assisting in risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced. Maintain Hazard assessments
  • Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.
  • Overseeing a comprehensive fire safety program ; undertake the planning and implementation of fire drills and other evacuation procedures.
  • Provide strategic feedback and direction to managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a program of continuous improvement in the management of Health and Safety within their areas of responsibility.
  • Train, coach and conduct presentations to employees on various safety measures to ensure all employees meet company training requirements for their specific role.
  • Researching and writing policies, procedures and reports related to H&S.
· Monitor and update Avetta and Complyworks as required· Maintain necessary documentation for COR certification· Ensure driver files are up to date by monitoring employee training expiry dates and arrange training as needed.· Arrange for and chair monthly safety meetings· Arrange required (9) Health and Safety Committee meetings per year and ensure members have the required training.· participate in HSC meetings· Write policy as new issues arise· Submit annual EAHOR report· Submit annual ESDC – Lab 1058 reportYou would also oversee the established safety program for Leduc Bottle Depot Ltd.
