Job Description

Aspen is a growing business looking for people with energy, drive and passion to contribute to our team.The Saw Operator / 1st Year Machinist reports to the Manufacturing Supervisor. The Machine Shop is responsible for making many of the parts used to build Aspen’s trailers.Main Responsibilities

  • Operation of CNC saws
  • Operation of manual drill press
  • Read drawings
  • Measure work pieces using fractional tape measure
  • Must have a strong work ethic
  • Meticulously organized and ability to keep a clean workspace
  • Quick to learn new skills
  • Strong attention to detail
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Good communication with co-workers in a collaborative team environment
  • Develop and maintain a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the machine shop is kept tidy and well organized upon completion of work assignments
  • Attributes and Skills
  • Crane operation
  • Able to work autonomously and uses good decision-making practices
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year experience with operation of CNC saws and drill press preferred
  • Understand and perform safe work practices
  • Overhead crane training an asset
Physical Requirements
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs - fitness test required
  • Standing on your feet for a long period of time
  • Have good eye to hand coordination
  • Be able to bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods
  • Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day
Shift Availability
  • Days - Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm
  • Afternoons - Monday – Thursday 4:00pm – 2:30am
  • When our shop is busy, overtime is scheduled and expected
