In addition to having core business operations in Energy and Sustaining Capital industries, Bantrel also provides EPC services to clients in the Power and Mining & Metals industries, Canada-wide.Our global reach and local touch is demonstrated by our affiliation with our parent company, Bechtel Corporation, one of the largest EPC companies in the world, and with McCaig Investments, a Calgary-based holding company with longstanding ties to the local business community.Job DescriptionSummaryHatch and Bantrel have formed the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) to execute engineering and construction on the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project in Saskatchewan. After successfully completing the Definition Phase Study for the project, the HBJV is currently carrying out the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) and Mining Areas of the 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 Potash Mine. With a published TIC of US $5.3-5.7 Billion this will represent one of the largest projects and private investments in Canada. The HBJV will use a hybrid of best-in-class new developing technologies and systems as well as the proven HBJV suite of tools to execute this exciting projectThe Superintendent Handover will work closely with the Lead Transition, the Field Engineering team, and all other Transition team Superintendents. They will be responsible for developing the handover framework for all work packages, starting with support on CG1001 (especially pre-mobilization). They are responsible to transition all areas, tools, equipment, buildings, and other owner assets to the next contractor. They will also manage the critical scope intricacies interfaces between the exiting and entering contractors to ensure these can be optimized. They will work closely with N3SR leadership, review all TCCC packages, acquire lessons learned, and align with Mining Team leadership to ensure all handover requirements and transfer of all materials and infrastructure are met for all packages, including as-built requirements. They will support the rest of the Transition team in ensuring the smooth transition and handover between subsequent work packages and to operations.JOB DIMENSIONS:DecisionsHandover priorities to ensure the teams are focused on the correct issuesTurnover status/condition of assets (ropes, hoists, shaft collar)Which handover issues need to be escalated to leadershipDecisions pertaining to transfer of care, custody, and control (TCCC), including asset condition and drawing verificationDevelop, manage, and close all items on punch listConsulted on (specifically pertaining to Handover scope):Incorporating learnings from previous mining contract packages into future contracts starting with CG1001Handover documentation from the exiting contractor for all permanent land temporary construction assets.Changes to contract scopes, commercials, and schedulesChanges to as-builds, and the condition of site assetsDevelopment of mobilization checklistsSupervision ReceivedDirect, day-to-day supervision and oversight from the Manager ReadinessSupervision ExercisedNo direct reportsACCOUNTABILITIES:Ensures a smooth seamless shaft access change from the exiting to the new contractorEnsures single day handover between contractorsSupports the pre-mobilization checklist along with PC&PManages the onsite asset interface lists, chairs the meetings, holds people accountable (asset list is attached to trend)Leads walkdowns of assets and areas to be transferred to new contractorReviews turnover documentation with contractor to fill any holes that may ariseManages the TCCC processManages interfaces meetings for permanents materials and temporary equipment that will transfer to the contractorSupports the contractor in working through onsite systems with the Mining teamIdentifies Handover requirements and tracks them by Area, System, Sub-System and DisciplineIdentifies any potential commercial ambiguities that arise in working through handoverManages the key scope interface log and coordination meeting to drive timely readiness to transitionExecutes transfers of care custody and control for project areas, consumables, tools, and equipment that are transferred as a part of the initial mobilizationDevelops handover framework for CG1001 which will be incorporated into future packagesSupports CG1001 contract early work to ensure handover requirements are clearHolds engineering accountable for as-build accuracyWorks with operations to align on final transition from the project to BHPSupports conversations around interface for the Mining TeamConducts an inventory check of all infrastructure and spares on siteEnsures teams are adhering to and exhibiting Jansen core valuesQualificationsSKILLS / JOB KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum 7 years’ experience in general field transition / project managementMine site construction expertise preferredExpertise in project management, as well as transition documentation, tools, and templatesWorking knowledge of engineering, contracts & procurement, project governance and controls, risk multi-discipline workflows and interactions for large capital projects.Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and schedulesAbility to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment utilizing agile methodologiesDemonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologiesStrong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including functional managers and discipline leads on the project, clients, outside vendors and contractorsDemonstrated strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills including root cause analysisAbility to effectively work with and lead a team to drive continuous improvement on the projectStrong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is requiredUnderstanding of N3SR ways of working and lessons learned is seen as an assetAbility to foster an inclusive environment for their team while grounding to the Jansen core valuesAdditional InformationWe thank all candidates for their interest; however, only those candidates selected for further review will be contacted.
