Faculty and staff come together to contribute, each in their own way, to establishing uLethbridge as Canada’s destination university.Position DetailsThe University of Lethbridge Student Enrolment and Registrar Services team is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Coordinator of Orientation & Transition to join our dynamic, creative and collaborative team as soon as possible.The Coordinator is a full-time, continuing position with responsibility for the development and implementation of student-focused strategies and programs to support the conversion and retention goals of the University. The Coordinator uses data for decision-making and program development, and works closely with experts and stakeholders from the institution and local community to provide students with a framework to succeed academically and personally.The Coordinator, Orientation & Transition, will be responsible for program development for all students, as well as parents and family of newly admitted students. Student needs, strategic enrolment management principals, trends in orientation & transition practices, and student development theories will drive program development. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of event planning and execution, including budgeting, identifying sponsorship needs, booking facilities, collecting registrations, event promotion and communications, and the documentation of practices and procedures. The Coordinator will also be responsible for the recruitment, training and supervision of a team of student mentors and event volunteers.Qualified candidates are invited to provide a creative cover letter and detailed resume. U of L alumni and candidates with prior post-secondary orientation and transition experience will have a competitive advantage in the application process.Position QualificationsApplicants must have an undergraduate degree plus two or more years of experience related to orientation and transition programming, preferably in a university setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with student engagement activities, strong (student-focused) customer service skills, event planning, and a high level of professionalism. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders will be critical. The successful applicant will also possess strong supervisory, financial administration, organization, and time-management skills.Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a familiarity with student development theories (particularly related to transition and retention), strategic enrolment management, and orientation & transition trends and practices. Experience with online communication tools will be considered an asset.
