This position will perform a variety of duties including review, processing, updating and maintenance of a variety of police files and documents. Other related duties as required.The CIS Administrative Support impacts all members of the Service, other agencies, and the public. It contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the Service through its management of police information that is in compliance with legislation, policy, and procedure, and that is in support of law enforcement investigations, prosecutions, and other legal proceedings.This permanent full-time position falls under the protection of a collective agreement associated to the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 70 contract. CUPE works to improve wages and benefits, improve health and safety conditions, and make your workplace better.Hours: 7:00am – 4:00pm Mon-Fri (potential call outs)Wage: $35.32 hour |2022 RateThe City of Lethbridge offers a competitive and flexible compensation package including a generous health care spending account and a defined benefit pension plan (LAPP).As CIS Administrative Support you will:

  • Prepares CIS files for Crown Disclosure.
  • Participation in Major Case Management clerical duties.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of files, reports, forms and correspondence in support of CIS activities.
  • Enters all CIS information into Niche.
  • Manages Sex Offender Registry Centre of Alberta (SORCA) and Parolee lists.
  • Facilitate internal and external stakeholders through efficient handling of diverse detailed inquiries
  • Work within a number of computer software database systems (including Niche/ACL) entering information, ensuring quality data, accuracy of detail, while maintaining confidentiality of all files.
  • Be responsible for prioritizing time sensitive work based on incoming information with a high level of efficiency.
  • Detect documents that require relevant information ensuring information contained within documents is accurate and correct.
  • Performs other clerical related duties for CIS as required.
As the successful candidate you will have:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment to effectively maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Several years of related administrative work experience
  • High degree of organizational skills and high attention to detail.
  • High level of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong independent working skills and the ability to plan and organized oneself in a self-directed environment.
  • Strong data entry experience.
  • Previous experience in a police or legal setting would be an asset, as would experience in Adobe Acrobat Pro and the following police specific systems, NICHE, CPIC and JOIN
  • Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems.
  • High school Diploma/Equivalent
  • Ability to quickly align with shifting priorities to address frequent interruptions.
  • A thorough knowledge of the applicable laws, policies, and procedures common to CIS is considered an asset.
  • A relevant Post-Secondary Certificate or Diploma is considered an asset.
The successful candidate is required to consent to a police security clearance, which includes the voluntary completion and submission of a personal disclosure form (lifestyle questionnaire), criminal and police records check, reference checks and truth verification through polygraph examination.STEPS OF HIRING PROCESS

  • All components of the selection process will be administered, scored, evaluated and interpreted in a fair and uniform manner
  • Duration of the process will be approximately two months
