Programming includes Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD), Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder initiatives and Guide & Service Dogs among others. DSD oversees and delivers programs and services that support people with disabilities to live and participate in their communities.RoleDo you find it rewarding to connect with a broad range of people, enjoy creative problem solving and want to make a positive difference in the lives of others If so, we look forward to hearing from you.In this role, you will assist a large number of individuals (children, youth and/or adults) with disabilities and their families and guardians to identify, explore and obtain needed services that will enhance their well-being and assist in their capacity for independence and inclusion in the community.The main responsibilities of this position will include responding to inquiries, problem solving issues, completing relevant assessments, completing the necessary paperwork and following the different processes to assist the individuals and families to connect to appropriate services. You will collaborate with parents, children, individuals with disabilities, and agency staff to monitor and evaluate the delivery of supports and services and achievement of outcomes. You will also provide key information about program intent and information about options that are available, including eligibility for various programs.As the ideal candidate, your communication skills and interpersonal skills will enable you to establish rapport and develop trust in relationships with community services and Ministry resources to facilitate effective supports to promote openness and collaboration. You will need to demonstrate the ability to work within a team environment; service design, use a strength-based approach in planning, problem solve during conflict while engaging within a multi-disciplinary team. You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills particularly in the areas of effective listening and clear verbal messaging in addition to strong written communication skills particularly in professional writing and note taking.Familiarity with current relevant legislation and programs including, but not limited to, the following:
