Grader Room OperatorCavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.Operate the grader room, add back dumper and storevayor. Ensure proper tagging and scanning of totes into inventory. Managing tote inventory and storage. Keep grader room in a clean and organized manner.Relationships and Contacts:This position reports to the Packaging Supervisor on duty and interacts with the packaging operators, and Frozen Sorter operatorMajor Responsibilities:

• Proper tagging and scanning of totes in real time
• Management of tote inventory
• Open communication with peers/support groups (upstream/downstream, process engineers, mechanics, technicians, QA, etc.,)
• Daily inspection and maintenance of equipment
• Maintain work area in a clean and sanitary condition, remove product build up and waste
• Ensure the plant meets Irving Standards (interior/exterior premises plant sanitation)
• Exceed required performance and cost targets (rates, waste, recovery)
• Meet or exceed customer requirements
• Update daily management boards and documents
• Follow all practices, policies, procedures and manufacturing specifications
• Operate the tote dump equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Tote management and inventory (staging, printers, labels, liners)
• Clean empty totes
• Empty waste totes into waste trailer
• Relieve other grader room and frozen sorter operator for breaks, vacation, and sickness
• Other duties as assigned

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety of self and others including proper training
• Proper use of required tools
• Using or wearing the protective equipment designated by the accident prevention policy
• Follow safe work procedures.
• Reporting immediately to their supervisor any unsafe conditions or acts.
• Reporting all accidents or injuries to your supervisor immediately.

Food Safety Responsibilities:

• Follow good manufacturing practices and HACCP rules
• Participate in food safety and quality programs of the facility within the specific role
• Reporting of food safety, food security and quality concerns to the immediate supervisor and action within the role
• Participate in sanitation activities

Qualifications and Abilities:

• Previous forklift experience is an asset
• Able to work shift work and weekends
• Able to work well with others and alone
• Willingness to learn
• Work in a safe and efficient manner
• Follow personal hygiene and HACCP rules
• Reliable and consistent attendance
• Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Familiar with SPC and OHS act regulations code
• Experience with Process 101 and Applicable equipment 101
• Familiar with JD Edwards Operating System
• Good penmanship
• Forklift certificate

Physical Requirements:

• Stand/walk for 12 hours
• Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, use ladders, climb stairs
• Occasional lifting up to 50lb/23kg
• Occasional carrying up to 50lb/23kg
• Occasional pushing up to 50lb/23kg
• Occasional pulling up to 50lb/23kg
• Ability to work in cold environment
